New Chevrolet Equinox 2022 will arrive in Brazil in the last quarter

Medium SUV will receive updated design and more technologies. That premiere is expected for November.

General Motors shows about its launches for this year. After confirming that it would have 4 news for Brazil and that the renewed Bolt will make its market debut in September, now it is the turn of the Chevrolet Equinox 2022 to be announced. According to the brand, the launch will take place in the 4th quarter and will bring more equipment. As the company's plan is to launch a car per month, the medium SUV should land in stores in October.

The launch of the Chevrolet Equinox 2022 was already expected, and the original plan was for it to arrive in Brazil last year. Therefore, due to the shutdown of factories in North America, the launch of the medium SUV was postponed until this year even in the United States, a different situation since the car had been presented live in early 2020.

One of the changes has already been advanced for the Brazilian market, with the end of the offer of the 262 hp 2.0 turbo engine coming from the Camaro. And, the only engine option will be the 1.5 turbo four-cylinder, delivering 172 hp at 5,600 rpm and 27.8 kgfm of torque at 2,500 rpm, always in combination with the 6-speed automatic transmission and with all-wheel drive in some versions. According to the GM Authority website, the 2.0 turbo corresponded to only 7% of SUV sales in the United States, which did not justify its offer and the adoption of a less powerful and more economical 2.0 was even speculated.

In the press release, GM does not give any details about the Chevrolet Equinox 2022 for the domestic market. This brand only states that “it will arrive more equipped and with an unprecedented personality” and that its arrival will take place “in the last quarter of the year”. The previous teaser revealed by the company marked Equinox as the second of four expected launches until December, which suggests that this novelty will happen in October.
