Senator Jean Paul Prates, from the PT, was the rapporteur for two bills that are in the Senate, where proposals are presented to reduce the increase in fuel consumption in the country.

Earlier this month, the senator confirmed the creation of the Gasoline Allowance made by himself, aimed at taxi drivers, motoboys and app drivers, such as Uber, and this aid is paid with public money.

How will the Gasoline Aid work?

The proposal was executed by Senator Eduardo Braga, from the MDB, and then accepted by Jean Prates. Thus, the new social program will add benefits to the Brazil Aid. A ceiling of R$ 3 billion is planned for the project.

The proposed new aid comes with amounts paid in monthly installments. Look:

  • Assistance of R$ 300.00 (three hundred reais): intended for self-employed drivers who do individual transport, such as taxi drivers and app drivers, and drivers of small boats;
  • Aid of R$ 100.00 (one hundred reais): intended for motorcyclists who have motorcycles of up to 125 cylinder capacity.

To receive assistance, drivers and motorcyclists must also have a monthly family income of up to 3 minimum wages.

Where does the money come from?

The origin of the money to be invested in the aid was not mentioned in Prates' speech, which should be explained later. Prates made it clear, however, that the aid will depend exclusively on the financial, budgetary and fiscal possibilities of the government.

He stressed that everything must follow the election law, not allowing new tax advantages in the election year, except, of course, in case of public calamity, social programs that are already allowed by law or have been in progress since the previous year, and in case of emergency.

The Gasoline Aid proposal is integrated into the Zip code (Fuel Price Stabilization Account).

Who will be entitled to receive the Gasoline Allowance?

To receive the Gasoline Aid, the driver must meet certain requirements, check out:

  1. Being a self-employed driver with your own transport: this category fits taxi drivers and app drivers, as well as drivers and pilots of small boats that have an engine of up to 16 HP;
  2. Being a moped and motorcycle driver: the vehicle must be up to 125 cc.

Benefits by category:

At first category, the amount to be received will be R$ 300.00 (three hundred reais); at second category, the value will be R$ 100.00 (one hundred reais).

Remembering that the amount to be received is per person, not per vehicle you own.

In short, it goes like this:

  • Individual transport driver – R$ 300.00;
  • Small boat drivers – R$ 300.00;
  • Motorcyclists with motorcycles up to 125 cc – R$ 100.00.
