MT: soybeans behind the 15% increase in March exports 12-04-2020
In Mato Grosso, soybeans are behind the 15% increase in exports in March, as compared to February. These are data from the economic event bulletin of IMEA (Mato-Grossense Institute of Agricultural Economics). The analysis indicates that the increase in foreign trade was mainly due to the growth of soybean exports, which reached 14%.
Some other items also saw progress in exports. These are: meat, wood and charcoal. As a result, and in the midst of the new coronavirus pandemic, the value of products exported to China rose notably, from U$ 644 million to U$ 715 million.
According to the bulletin, imports also felt the rising tide, with an advance of 49.8% at the same time, due to the greater receipt of fertilizers in the state. Thus, the trade balance of Mato Grosso showed an addition of 12.7% in March.

Most exported products are destined for China. The one that had a raise of 7%. Within these items, soybeans had the highest increase, at 14%.
However, even with the increase of 4.0%, the Gross Value of Production (GVP) of agriculture in Mato Grosso, the value of production in agriculture fell by 1.0% in the state, in March, compared to the previous month.
This decrease was triggered by the value of livestock, which reduced by 14.8% as a result of the decrease in price projections and slaughter of cattle, poultry and pork. In addition to the decrease in the forecast for milk collection in 2020, due to doubts regarding the demand for animal protein and dairy products, resulting from the generalized crisis caused by the new coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, in Mato Grosso do Sul, the forecast is that the 2019/2020 soybean crop will be the largest in the history of the state. Conab indicates that the harvest should reach 10.1 million tons, while Aprosoja/MS at 11.3 million tons
