Liverpool teenager Harvey Elliott signs first professional contract.
Harvey Elliott signed his first professional contract in Liverpool , with Jürgen Klopp describing the deal as "brilliant news" for the champions.
Elliott, 17, who joined from Fulham last summer, has become Liverpool's second-youngest player to feature in a Carabao Cup game against MK Dons in September and made eight appearances in total. The most recent was the winger's late appearance in the win by 4 to 0 last month against Crystal Palace at Anfield.
“From the first day I joined, it has been an indescribable journey,” Elliott told liverpoolfc.com . “Now completing my first professional contract is a dream come true for me and my family. I'm excited to see what the future holds and just excited to give the club and fans my all.
“When I walked onto the pitch at Anfield when I played against Arsenal [in a Carabao Cup match in October], it was an emotional thing for me. Being in and around the fans, hearing them sing You'll never walk alone when you're taking the field, it brought a tear to my eye. ”
Klopp said: “Brilliant news – [I am] very happy. Harvey is such an exciting prospect. I love his attitude, enthusiasm, bravery – I love that he has just the right amount of football confidence and sass. The public may not yet know the real Harvey and part of that is because we seek to protect and protect him. But he is such a kind, polite and humble boy who appreciates the talent and opportunities he has – and he loves football. He loves the game first and foremost, would play every minute of every day if he could – and he loves this club too, and it's a great mix.
“What is critical and so important is that he has the time and space to develop.”
