Learn how to check your health through your selfie with an app on your cell phone.

The technology company NuraLogix has developed an application that is able to check the user's health just by their selfie.

The Anura app scans the selfie through a complex test based on artificial intelligence.

In this way, the user is able to know how his blood pressure is and if he is at risk of having diabetes, all in a 30-second scan.

See more features of the application:

  • The Anura app can check if the user is healthy through a selfie;
  • It can be used on any device that has a selfie camera;
  • It has artificial intelligence trained from data collected from more than 40,000 people, who have various conditions;
  • In its report, the app presents the user's health risk assessments regarding chronic conditions;
  • The app cannot be used to diagnose diseases, in order to alert the user and guide them to seek a doctor;
  • The Anura application can be downloaded for free through the systems android It is iOS.

The first disclosure of the app took place during the 2023 MWC, at the time, the company declared to the BRG that the technology should not be used in the diagnosis of diseases, being useful for user awareness in seeking medical help.

Anura can be used on all devices that have a selfie camera, as long as the environment has enough light for a good image capture.

Then, the user must position his head in the circle that is shown on the screen, remaining in this position for 30 seconds until the scan ends.

The Transdermal Optical Imaging (TOI) technology present in the app, was developed by NuraLogix, as a newer form of remote photoplethysmography (rPPG).

To be more clear, the app works by reflecting light on some key regions of the user's face to gather information from blood flow.

This data is sent to the cloud and analyzed by artificial intelligence, which then provides the results.

None of the user data is saved on NuraLogix servers, it is deleted right after the report is generated.

However, the app still shows the history of scans that the user has performed.

The artificial intelligence that the app uses was trained based on data collected from more than 40,000 patients with different health conditions.

This technology developed by the company has already been mentioned in 10 peer-reviewed research publications, and three are in progress. NuraLogix has 13 US patents.

The app can check the chances of the user having chronic conditions, such as regarding mental health, type 2 diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease.

Anura is able to show whether the user has an HbA1c greater than 5.7% and whether their blood glucose, in the fasting state, is greater than 5.5mmol/L.

In blood pressure measurements, the app shows an accuracy equivalent to the standard deviation of error, which is less than 8mmHg.

How should I use the app?

Even though this technology is quite interesting, the user should not use the app to diagnose diseases, but to test their health and receive guidance in the medical search.

The company has been trying to get the necessary approvals so that it can sell such technology for use in medicine and for implementation in other types of products.

It still works together with companies that aim to offer the technological service to their employees.

Anura can be combined with other devices that have artificial intelligence and can monitor the user's health.

It can also be used to convince the user to go to the doctor faster than they would without the app.
